PDF Squeezer has been out for about three weeks now. The application has gotten many positive reviews, but unfortunately there are also one star reviews such as:
All files I attempted to use with this application spat out files exactly the same size as the original no matter what preset was used.
(by T.M. Calgary, Canadian Store)or
Tried several files. Without fail, each GREW — significantly— in size. Absolute/complete waste of money.
(by TreoRenegade, US Store)
These users haven’t read the application description, which clearly says:
PDF Squeezer reduces the file size of large PDF documents that contain pictures.Like all other PDF compression tools, PDF Squeezer does NOT reduces the size of PDF documents that contain no pictures or PDF documents that have already been compressed!
This is not a bug. This happens to
all PDF compression tools that reduce the dpi a quality of images in order to reduce the file size. Also I don’t understand why some people don’t understand that you can’t reduce the size of a file that is already small. That’s usually the case if it has already been compressed by the application that created that file. In the german store someone gave PDF Squeezer a one star review because it didn’t reduce the size of a 365 kb (!) PDF document... Blow me down!
While these one star reviews significantly slump down the sales, there is nothing I can do about it. I hope Apple will implement the possibility of responding to user reviews soon.
